I'm sure by now, you are well aware that the orders are due for your NYSSL funding in mid-March.  The question, "What shall I buy?" comes up frequently.

Here is what I think every school should have:

-enough current copies of an "office" suite (including: word processor, data base, spreadsheet, graphic presentation programs), one for each computer

-enough current copies of Inspiration and Kidspiration, one for each computer

-enough current copies of KidPix, one for each computer accessible for grades PK-3

-any of the Tom Snyder Productions titles.  The ones that you only need one copy of are from the following (titles with the word "series" in them indicate that there is are a group of programs that operate in much the same manor):

                        -Decisions, Decisions series(grades 5-10)

                        -Choices, Choices series(grades K-6)

                        -Math Mysteries series (grades  4-7)

                        -Fizz & Martina's Math Adventures series(grades 1-6)

                        -Prime Time Math series(grades 4-9)

                        -Rainforest Researchers (grades 5-8)

                        -Science Seekers series (grades 5-8)

-Science Court Explorations series (grades 2-4)

-The Great Ocean Rescue (grades 5-8)

                        -Inspirer Geography series (grades 4-12)

-any of the Tom Snyder Productions Titles.  The ones that you need one copy for each computer are from the following:

                        -Graph Master (grades 4-8)

                        -Graph Club Deluxe(grades K-4)

                        -Neighborhood Map Machine (grades 1-5)

                        -Tesselation Exploration (grades 4-8)

                        -Rainforest Designer (grades 2-6)

                        -Mapmakers Toolkit (grades 4-12)

                        -Community Construction Kit (grades 2-6)

                        -Timeliner (grades K-12)

Other good titles include: Storybook Weaver,  multi-media encyclopedias, Hot Dog Stand, and FrontPage (or another HTML editor).

In addition, schools can consider ordering CPS systems (by eInstruction).  I do NOT suggest ordering the kits with the staff development.  Contact my office for more information.  If you want to find the on FAMIS, search for einstruction.
