The following on-line courses are approved for professional development credit. These courses provide an opportunity for the teachers on your staff to update their skills and strategies at a convenient time and place. The following courses may be of interest to your science teachers, physical education teachers or whoever is responsible for teaching health and nutrition. Registration is now open for Fitting Fats into a Healthy Lifestyle, a free, new online professional development mini-course for nutrition and health professionals, extension educators, and K-12 teachers. This 5-week interactive nutrition course uses case studies, online readings, and asynchronous online discussions with peers and University of Massachusetts faculty to help you learn the latest dietary guidance, public health recommendations, and behavior change strategies for fat intake. Estimated time is 2 hours per week. Participation in the course is free; certificate of completion/documentation of 10 hours or 10 CPE units is available for a fee. Registration is also open for Food Safety FIRST, a set of 3 non-credit online short modules in food safety and health for teachers based on national science education standards (fee required).
