An Internet Filter is a piece of software that attempts to block access to certain
types of objectionable Internet sites. The way the program works varies with each
program. In some cases the Internet Service Provider (ISP) will even block the
objectionable content before it even gets to your school. In either case, none of

A second method of eliminating objectionable material is to use what is called a
"firewall." This is usually a combination of hardware and software.
One example of a company that markets this type of solution is Bascom. One of the unique features of this system
is that it allows the teacher to specifically select the sites the students will be
allowed to access. Firewalls are usually available directly from you ISP.
